Desert Growing Regions Hit by Frosts

1/13/2013

A shortage of vegetables is expected this month after a harsh winter frost struck desert growing regions. Lettuce, broccoli and cauliflower are all expected to be affected. Growers warn there could be reductions of up to 30 percent.

The frosts hit Arizona's Yuma region and California's Imperial and Coachella valleys in December. More cold weather is anticipated this month, which could mean further reductions.
