Brandt Raises Relief Funds for Sandy Victims

Brandt, a provider of agricultural inputs, raised more than $10,000 for the American Red Cross' relief efforts for the victims of Hurricane Sandy through dedicated fundraising efforts over the month of November.
"The devastation of Hurricane Sandy just broke our hearts and we wanted to do our part to help," said Rick Brandt, CEO and president of Brandt. "So when we saw the Herculean efforts of the Red Cross--and the way that our local chapter from right here in Springfield jumped in--we knew that our support could go the farthest by providing them with much-needed funding."

Contributions were raised from Brandt employees and customers across the country from Springfield, Ill., to Fresno, Calif. Fundraising efforts included individual appeals, a bake sale and coin-collection drop boxes. The Brandt company matched all donations, including those from customers, dollar for dollar.

Brandt founders Glen Brandt and Evelyn Thomas and CEO Rick Brandt presented a check for $10,263.16 to the Red Cross Illinois Capital Area Chapter. The Springfield and Fresno Chapters will facilitate getting the funds to where they are needed most. Colleen Stone, CEO, Red Cross Illinois Capital Area Chapter, accepted the donation on behalf of the American Red Cross.
