Southeastern Pecan Growers Association Annual Convention and Trade Show

February 24-25, Point Clear, Ala.

This year's Southeastern Pecan Growers Association Annual Convention and Trade Show will be held February 24-25 at the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort in Point Clear, Ala. Since 1935, the Southeastern Pecan Growers Association has had an annual convention. The organization is comprised of seven states: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Louisiana. The association has experienced considerable growth in its 100 years of existence.

Objectives

The objectives include the promotion of interest in the pecan industry, discussion involving problems of production, management and marketing of pecans. Scientists and growers from Southeastern states, as well as visitors from other areas, present papers and statistics on a wide variety of topics at meetings.

Special events

On Friday, February 24, there will be a golf tournament at noon and a welcome reception at 6:30 p.m. The program on Saturday, February 25, includes a wide variety of educational opportunities, the SEPGA Business Meeting and trade show. Also, on Saturday, there is a Hospitality Hour beginning at 6:30 p.m. and a banquet dinner that begins at 7:30 p.m.

About the SEPGA

The Southeastern Pecan Growers Association is an education organization. Membership is composed of pecan growers or other persons and firms who are interested in and will lend their assistance to the promotion and objectives of the association. Membership includes a copy of the Proceedings of the Annual Convention and other information on pecan production and marketing that becomes available during the year, including five newsletters each year and subscriptions to Pecan South and The Pecan Grower. Membership is $75 for growers and commercial representatives and $25 for research, extension and other education workers.
